Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

FacetWord doesn't require an account, a name, or an email address. You can play without giving us any personal information.

What stays on your device

Your progress, stats, streak, theme choice, and any cosmetics you've unlocked are stored in your browser's local storage. Apart from the anonymous daily results described under Comparing with other players, this data stays on your device. Clearing your browser's site data will erase this progress.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand basic traffic to the site — page views, general device type, and referrers. This data is aggregate and anonymous.

We also use PostHog to collect anonymous gameplay analytics, such as when a puzzle is started or completed, how many meanings were used, whether the Share button is tapped, how you rate each day's difficulty, how likely you say you would be to recommend FacetWord (and a comment, if you choose to write one), and how you use your Facet and cosmetics (such as tier-ups, unlocks, and equipped themes or gem effects). These events are tied to a random anonymous ID stored in your browser, not to your name, email, or any account, and they help us improve the game. We don't use them for advertising.

Comparing with other players

To show how your result compares with other players, we send your day's five puzzle results to our own server, along with a random ID stored in your browser. The results are added to anonymous daily totals. The ID is hashed and kept for a few days so each player is counted once. Neither is linked to your name, email, or any account. The totals are stored with Upstash, our database provider, and hosted through Vercel.

Feedback

The Feedback option opens your own email app with a message addressed to us. We only receive what you choose to send.

Children

FacetWord isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
